Top SaaS Link Building Agencies: pricing, minimums and contract terms
Choosing a SaaS link building agency is a $2,000–$15,000 a month decision made almost entirely on sales calls. This site publishes what 12 agencies actually charge, what they require you to commit to, and what the market rate is — so you can compare proposals before you take the first call.

Below roughly $200 a link you are almost certainly buying marketplace inventory rather than earned placement. Why that matters.
- $508.95 — market average for one quality backlink
- 66.5% of links built 2013–2024 are now dead
- Only 1.37% of guest post opportunities meet quality standards
- 46.5% of buyers spend $5,000–$10,000 a month
- 80.9% of SEOs expect prices to rise through 2027
The problem
Buying links is the least transparent purchase in SaaS marketing
Four of the five pages currently ranking for this search are published by companies that sell link building. Here is what that leaves you with.
-
Every shortlist you find was written by an agency
Four of the five pages ranking for this term are blog posts on the site of a company that sells link building. They are lead generation with a listicle wrapper. That does not make them wrong — it does mean nobody in that set is disinterested.
-
Nobody will tell you what it costs
The strongest content competitor in this category explicitly declines to publish cost figures. So you take four sales calls to learn four price points, and only then find out you were comparing per-link rates against retainers against campaign fees.
-
The proposals are not comparable
One quotes 10 links a month. One quotes a $6,000 retainer. One quotes per placement. Without a common unit you are not choosing between agencies, you are choosing between formats.
-
You cannot see what you bought until months later
66.5% of links built between 2013 and 2024 are now dead. Link rot is why a written replacement policy matters more than the pitch deck, and it is the clause most often missing.

Published pricing
What one link costs, by how it was acquired
No agency listicle in this category publishes a single price. This table is the whole reason this site exists.
| Link type | Cost per link | What to know | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Link insertion (niche edit) | $141 – $600 $141 typical; around $600 on DR 50+ sites | Rarely offered by high-quality, high-traffic publishers. | Ahrefs |
| Guest post | $220 – $609 $220 average; up to $609 for high quality | Direct from the site averages $295; through a vendor, $461. | BuzzStream |
| Manual outreach / editorial placement | $500 – $1,250 $500–$1,250 depending on site authority and relevance | The band most SaaS retainers actually operate in. | Siege Media |
| Digital PR placement | $800 – $1,200 $800–$1,200 per placement | Highest authority per link; campaign-based, so volume is less predictable. | Siege Media |
| Market average, any type | $508.95 +45% vs 2022 (up from $350 in 2022) | The average price SEOs say is acceptable for one high-quality backlink. | Editorial.Link |
What changes the price
- Your customer lifetime value. Agencies price against what a customer is worth to you. Above $12,000 LTV the market band is $800–$1,000+ per link; between $7,000 and $12,000 it is $600–$800.
- Target site authority. A link insertion on a DR 50+ site runs about $600 against a $141 typical rate. Authority is most of the spread.
- Whether content is included. A guest post price with no writing in it is not the same product as one with it. Ask which you are being quoted.
- Category competition. The average minimum monthly budget in high-difficulty niches is $8,406. Competitive SaaS categories sit closer to that than to the market floor.

Before you shortlist
Agency, marketplace or in-house
Three ways to buy the same outcome, with genuinely different failure modes. Worth settling before you take a sales call, because each one leads to a different conversation.
| Dimension | Hire in-house One SEO/link specialist | Buy from a marketplace Per-link, self-serve | Specialist agency Retainer or per-link programme |
|---|---|---|---|
| Typical monthly cost | ~$7,300 loaded salary, before tools | $141–$609 per link, no floor | $2,000–$15,000 depending on volume |
| Time to first link | 3–6 months (hire, then ramp) | 1–3 weeks | 3–8 weeks |
| Quality control | Yours entirely — good if you know what to check | Yours entirely — and you are checking after you paid | Theirs, against criteria you should demand in writing |
| Publisher access | Starts at zero, builds slowly | Whatever is listed, which anyone can also buy | Existing relationships, the main thing you are paying for |
| Scales when you need more | No — capped by one person | Yes, but quality falls as volume rises | Yes, within their capacity |
| What happens when it stops | You still have the person and the relationships | Nothing carries over | Links remain; the pipeline stops. Check the replacement policy. |
| Biggest risk | You hire the wrong person and lose 6 months | You buy from the 98.6% that fail quality checks | You pay retainer rates for marketplace-quality links |

How to run this
Four steps from “we should do link building” to a signed contract
- 01
Set the budget before the calls
Use the published market bands to decide what you can spend and how many links that realistically buys. Walking into a sales call without a number is how a $3,000 problem becomes a $9,000 retainer.

Check you actually need an agency
If your product pages are not worth ranking yet, links will not fix it and you will have spent the runway that would have. The fit quiz will say so plainly.

Shortlist on model, not on marketing
Compare on published price, minimum commitment, link type and contract length. The matrix below puts those side by side so you can cut a list of twelve down to three in a few minutes.
